my rubberband immune system
the human body's ability to heal itself is sooooo amazing. Science and man-made chemical's ability to enhance the body's natural ability is even more amazing! I take the chemo, it kills bad things that move quickly in the body, it kills good things that are moving quickly in the body. Then when my natural defenses get too low, I take more chemicals to bring it back up. The stuff they give me to boost my immune system is the same stuff athletes use to dope up to increase their physical output. Oh well, my future as a professional cyclist may never come...incidentally, did you know that Lance Armstrong was accused of using the cancer drugs to enhance his racing ability???? Seriously. People accused him of using cancer to his racing advantage. niiice.
A side effect of the immune system enhancing drug is insta-growing pains. This stuff tells your body to make more blood basically, and that starts in your bones. It doesn't feel great, but strangely I've come to welcome this ache. (yes, weird Nisey). It is a physical reminder of how fascinating the human body is, and how inspiring it is that science has created a method to "grow" blood. Truly amazing.
love,
